AYSO 97: Zap-Dragons prevail against Blue Sharks
The Zap-Dragons earned their sixth victory of the season against
the Blue Sharks in an AYSO Region 97 boys under-6 soccer game Saturday.
Quest Truxton scored a goal in the second half and Garrett Spruth set up
a go-ahead goal by Nick Shallahamer.
Sean Cox and Chris Dinatale also made key passes. Contributing on
defense were Joey Gregory and Montgomery Faigen.
In boys under-14 action:
* Fire 4, Ice (Region 57) 4 - The Fire overcame a three-goal deficit
late in the game. Donny Hunt and Nick Hendricks each scored two goals.
Chris Womble had two assists and Nick Weil had one. Nick Normandin,
Thomas Harrington, Jake Liddicotte, Will Prioleau and Jacob Silverman
played well on defense.
* Rebels 1, Flaming Ice (Region 57) 1 - David Garrett scored for the
Rebels with an assist from Phil Garrett toward the end of the game. Alex
Boullon stood in as goalkeeper in the second half and made a key save on
a penalty kick. Nicholas Doyle and Logan Schuttenhelm held off the Ice
offense. Sergio Rodriquez and Jonathan Gordon turned in solid
performances on offense.
In boys under-12 action:
* Raiders 2, Forest Monkeys 1 - Preston Davey scored for the Forest
Monkeys. Darron Arnold took a hard shot on goal that hit the crossbar.
Christian Scott, Nick Verdugo and Danny Ingalls moved the ball well in
midfield. Justin Faber and Vinnie Finn provided offensive support.
Timothy Regan and Taylor Allee were solid in net. The defense was led by
Michael Gracia, Tommy Hanrahan and Tyler Beard.
In girls under-10 action:
* Red Dogs 3, Roxy Kicks 1 - Marianne Jones, McKenna Cottam and Amy
Kanotz scored goals. Zoie Verrall, Kaitlin Keho, Indy Tamplin, Kendra
Mann and Chelsea Barth had solid performances. The defense was anchored
by Brianna Truxton. Courtney Francis, Veronica McLean and DeAnna Patel
stood their ground in net for the Red Dogs (4-1-1).
* Green Shockers 3, Hot Shots 0 - Goals were scored by Kasey DeYoung,
Valentina Buonanoce and Cailea Eisenberg. Hannah MacLeod, Stephanie
Havens, Becky Gula and Sydney Clayton moved the ball well in midfield and
made key passes. Bonnie Sykes and Jillian Paul were strong on defense.
Goalkeepers Sadye Busby and Jessica Hensley were solid in net.
In boys under-8 action:
* The Destroyers took on the Lightning Bolts. Jack Murrell, Sean Regan
and Hamilton Randle scored for the Destroyers. Additional shots on goal
were taken by Teddy Barry and Christopher Sheppard.
* The Blue Magicians played against the Hornets and were led by Nolan
Mena (3 goals) and A.J. Lowder, who had one shot on goal. Kyle Regan,
James Littlefair and Trevor Magana also contributed on offense. Ryan
Shannon and Tyler Kiehnle made four saves. Paul Tadross was a defensive
standout.
In girls under-7 action:
* The Go-Go Girls faced the Bumble Bees. Megan Daly, Grace Busby,
Emily Nall, Isabel Leveque and Molly Manser scored goals for the Go-Go
Girls. Alice Miller and Kate Vorona contributed on defense.
In boys under-6 action:
* The Volcom Stones battled the Sharks. Chase Davis scored on a pass
from Charlie Crook. Kole Escher moved the ball across the field and
scored an unassisted goal. The defense was anchored by Henry Dodge, Will
Crook, Jack Williamson and Spencer Buchanan.
AYSO Region 120
In boys under-10 action:
* Quicksilver put together a strong performance to record a 3-1
victory over the Galaxy. Andrew Roth led Quicksilver’s offense with two
goals. The scores came as a result from solid play by Kohl Jones,
Jonathan Miranda, Rigoberto Perez and Robert Blackwell. Devin Guthrie
scored Quicksilver’s third goal and that was supported by efforts from
Scott Alvarado, Cody Childers, Jose Hidalgo, Tyler Schiltz and Scott
Wagner.
* The Wolverines and the Green Fireballs played to a 2-2 tie. The
Wolverines started the scoring early when Evan Edison finished cross
passes from Kevin Kiser and Marc DeFrenza. Marc Jones, Jose Espinoza,
Robert Rutan and Eduardo Espinoza with Tyler Suttan in goal kept the
Fireballs out of their offensive zone.
AYSO Region 120 playoffs begin Monday for divisions under-10 and up.
In girls under-12 action:
* Bad Hair Day won twice this week. In their Bad Hair Day’s
interleague game with the Highlighters of Newport Beach, Diana Gonazlez
and Bridget Gleason scored a goal each to lead BHD to a 2-0 victory.
Genesis Rivas, Olivia Drummond and Cara Holmes had strong efforts on
defense to preserve the shutout. Bad Hair Day defeated the Silver
Shooters, 3-0, Saturday. Amy Holt, Gleason and Taylor West scored one
goal each. Solid midfield play came from Lauren Kipp, Paige Wallace and
Jamie Surdyka, and Regina Sianez kept the ball on the offensive end for
Bad Hair Day.
