The Airport Working Group will conduct an informational airport

meeting in Costa Mesa today.

The pro-airport group scheduled the 7 p.m. session to inform Costa

Mesa residents about the possibility of John Wayne Airport expansion.

The airport could be forced to grow if an airport is not built at the

closed El Toro Marine Corps Air Station, the group contends.

Costa Mesa Councilman Gary Monahan will speak, along with group

President Tom Naughton and Art Bloomer, the executive director of the

Orange County Regional Airport Authority. Richard Taylor, another member

of the group, is also scheduled to speak.

Costa Mesa has not formally supported the county’s 28.8-million annual

passenger airport plan for El Toro. The council has supported limiting

John Wayne.

The meeting will be held in the Adams room of the Costa Mesa

Neighborhood Community Center, 1845 Park Ave.
