Volleyball, volleyball, volleyball. This past weekend, the Assn. of

Volleyball Professionals Paul Mitchell Open hit the sands of Surf City.

Two weeks from now, the Amateur Volleyball Assn. will come to town.

On Saturday, more than 100 area beach volleyball players will compete

in the third of five competitions that make up the AVA California Crown

On Tuesday, Dougherty questioned whether the city had given his client

enough warning time to defend himself.

Collins said the city is required by law to give 10 days’ notice, and

that the city sent notices on June 12 and June 13. Nothing that happened

should have been a surprise to Cohen, he said.
