District rewards more employees

NEWPORT-MESA -- They’re security guards, teachers, custodians and
high-level administrators.
And Tuesday night, they were the second round of school district
employees recognized for their dedication and hard work.
“It seems very well-received, and as many nominations as we are
getting indicates there is a need and an appreciation for it,” said Bruce
Crockard, the director of classified personnel for the Newport-Mesa
Unified School District and a PRIDE committee member.
The PRIDE employee recognition program was developed last year as a
way to give praise and boost morale among employees.
The program puts nomination ballots in the hands of every person who
comes into contact with school district employees, to award praise to
those who are deserving.
Each letter in the title of the program stands for one of the five
areas in which an employee may be recognized. P stands for positive
attitude, R recognizes the person’s number of years in service to the
district, I is for initiative and creativity, D is for dependability, and
E is for excellence in customer service.
“Those are all the critical attributes that we would like to see in
all our employees,” Crockard said. “And we just thought it was time to
recognize them for it.”
Out of 90 nominees for this second round of awards, the following
employees were honored: Adele Albano, Pat Alsop, Sur Bright, Brooke
Booth, John Carpenter, Norman Chapman, Mary Lee Clark, Norberto Colin,
Billie Flamson, Barbara Gularte, Ron Howard, Geoff Ianniello, Everardo
Laris, John Larkins, Peggy Lenhart, Marla Loffelmacher, Eleanor Rebard,
Cindy Ridens, Thomas Shiskovsky, Georgia Siler, Bonnie Swann, Judy
Taylor, Linda Thompson, Erin Topping and Nancy Urricariet.
