COSTA MESA -- A Santa Ana man died early Wednesday morning when the

car he was riding in lost control and overturned on the San Diego

Freeway, officials said.

The crash on the Bristol Street offramp was reported to authorities at

2:22 a.m., California Highway Patrol officials said. Lionel Clark, 26,

was a passenger in a 1983 Datsun, which spun out of control and

overturned when the driver made an “unsafe turn to the left,” said

Officer Joann O’Hair.

Robert Earl Lark Jr., also of Santa Ana, was driving the car and was

arrested on suspicion of drunken driving. He is currently being held in

Orange County Jail, she said. Lark suffered moderate injuries, said

O’Hair.

Clark, who was not wearing a seat belt, was ejected from the car which

landed on him, officials said.
