Comedian and author Rick Rockwell will headline a dinner at the 6th

Annual JMG Annual Benefit Golf Tournament sponsored by JMG Security

Systems at 7 p.m. May 16 at Mile Square Golf Club, 10401 Warner Ave.

Rockwell, who appeared in “Who Wants to Marry a Multimillionaire” on

Fox-TV is currently writing a book on the experience titled “What Was I

Thinking?” and was the featured entertainer at the inaugural JMG charity

golf tournament in 1995. Cost for the dinner and Rockwell’s act is $35.

Swim team sets sign-up date

The Green Valley Dolphin Swim Team will be holding sign-ups for

children and young adults age 5 to 18 for the summer season from 10 a.m.

to 5 p.m. Saturday at the Green Valley’s Family Clubhouse, 10739 Los

Jardines West.

The summer season runs from April 30 through Aug. 4. Fees for Green

Valley residents are $160 for the first child, $125 second child and $60

for the third child. The fees for nonresidents are $160 first child, $125

second child and $85 for third child.

‘Cinderella’ ballet planned at library

The Huntington Beach Public Library will present the ballet

“Cinderella” at 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. April 11 at the Library Theater, 7111

Talbert Ave.

Tickets are $3 per person and advanced ticket purchase is highly

recommended.

Learn about rail plans at symposium

The city of Huntington Beach will host the West Orange County Cities

Assn. Rail Symposium from 8 a.m. to noon today in the City Council

Chambers, 2000 Main St.

The event will include representatives from Amtrak, Metrolink, MTA,

OCTA, SCAG, Alameda Corridor and California High Speed Rail. Discussion

will include the current and future rail activities designed to improve

transportation in California.

Among topics set to be addressed is the proposed California-Las Vegas

Super Speed Train, the future of high rail, Amtrak and commuter rail.

City offers cooking, parent-child classes

The Huntington Beach Community Services Department will offer new

classes starting the week of April 9.

Cooking classes, including Mexican, Chinese, Middle Eastern and Thai,

as well as parent-child classes will be offered.

Mail-in registration begins Friday and entries will be accepted

through March 23. Walk-in registration begins March 27 at class

locations.

Tax assistance offered for seniors

The American Assn. of Retired Persons is offering free walk-in tax

assistance for senior citizens from 2 to 3 p.m. on Tuesdays through April

10 at the Michael Rodgers Seniors’ Center, 1706 Orange Ave., Huntington

Beach.

The Huntington Beach Economic Development Department has sent out

on the three public workshops that have been held regarding the Action

Plan and Specific Plan.
