CHULA VISTA - The Orange Coast College women’s tennis team took to

the courts, Saturday, after rain ended the first day of competition at

the 12-team Southwestern Tournament.

OCC freshmen Veronica Sommer, Stephanie Chang, Vanessa Mai and

Raphaela Bohm picked up victories to advance to today’s semifinals.

In doubles, Pirates sophomore Sondra McNamara teamed with freshman

Kristen Lawson to earn a match in the finals today at Southwestern

College, weather permitting.

If rain cancels the final day of the tourney, play will be postponed

until Saturday.
