Softball: Lions get swept by Bakersfield
BAKERSFIELD - The Vanguard University softball team had a rough
trip to Cal State Bakersfield, losing, 13-0, and, 8-1, in a nonconference
doubleheader Friday.
In the opener, the Lions managed only one hit, a double by Rachael
Rolle, while committing four errors.
In the nightcap, Vanguard (1-3) jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the top of
the first inning, thanks to an RBI groundout by sophomore Jill Jessen,
scoring senior Andrea Saucedo.
The Roadrunners (6-3) responded with seven runs, capped off by a
Biranna McSheehy three-run single and a Tracy Szobonya two-run single.
Senior Erin went 2 for 2 for the Lions, who continue nonconference
action Tuesday at Cal State San Bernardino, beginning at 1:30 p.m.
