BRIEFLY EDUCATION
The Newport-Mesa Unified School District seeks interested residents to
apply for its 14-member audit committee.
Members’ duties include interacting with district auditors throughout
the annual auditing process, helping to prepare the audit report for the
school board and evaluating the process.
There are four positions open within the four high school attendance
zones. There are also at-large business experts and alternate positions
available that require the applicants to live within the school district
boundaries and must have financial or business experience with a
particular interest in auditing or evaluation of internal controls.
It is not necessary to have children attending Newport-Mesa schools to
apply, but the group does look for business experience. Letters of
application should be sent by Feb. 7 to Supt. Robert Barbot at 2985-A
Bear St., Costa Mesa, CA 92626. Information: Mike Fine, assistant
superintendent of business services, (714) 424-5001.
