We asked fifth-grade students at Adams Elementary School in Costa

Mesa: What were your favorite commercials during Sunday’s Super Bowl game

and why?

“The commercial where the guy was throwing knives behind him in order

to get pizza was cool. Then he got stabbed with the knives. But then the

commercial said not to try this at home, and it turned out that the guy

was wearing a suit so he wouldn’t get hurt.”

KORY DE ANGELO, 11

Costa Mesa

“I think the commercials are too big of a deal. I don’t have a

favorite commercial.”

SCOTT ESSEN, 10

Costa Mesa

“Some of the commercials were pretty good. I liked the one about the

cars that go by really fast. It was really bold. There was another one

about kids singing that was really cute too. They were all dressed like

rockers, and that was kind of exciting.”

KARINA RIOS, 10

Costa Mesa

“Some of them were just not that bright or were just dumb. And some

were really funny and made me laugh, like this one for Skechers that had

a roller coaster made out of shoes and was about how people like that

brand. And so do I.”

DANIELLE SALAZAR, 10

Costa Mesa

“There was this one commercial that I really didn’t understand but

made my sister laugh really hard. I did like the one where the guy was

flying through the air with geese and then gave one of the birds a Pepsi

and all the birds formed the Pepsi sign together. That was cool.”

SIGRID PEREZ, 10

Costa Mesa

“I liked the one where this guy throws a rock in the tree and then

another guy throws a stick and then another throws a shoe and then a

Volkswagen falls down. I don’t know what it means or what the point was,

but it was cool. I just liked it.”

CHRIS KOREERAT, 10

Costa Mesa

“The one that I liked was the one where the people are running away

from the squirrels, and he says he lost some of his friends to squirrels.

It’s like the one last year with the guy running with the cats. It was

all so dramatic. It was the best one I think.”
