Fountain Valley police arrested resident Long Thahn Nguyen, 49, on

Monday on suspicion of killing his mother earlier this month.

Chinh Thi Nguyen, 89, of Fountain Valley was found by police on Nov.

15 in the 9900 block of Thistle Street. Police discovered that the woman

had fallen backward in her chair and hit the kitchen floor after

allegedly being punched in the face. She died soon after arriving at UCI

Medical Center. Her son was booked at the Orange County Jail and his bail

has been set at $250,000.

Surf City presents children’s holiday show

Parents and their children are invited to the Huntington Beach

Community Services Department’s production of “Christmas Under the Sea”

Saturday at the Murdy Community Center.

The performance starts at 1:30 p.m. for children 5 and 10 and features

sea creatures singing Christmas songs, such as “Frosty the Snowman” and

“Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer.”

The Murdy Community Center is at 7000 Norma Ave., and tickets are $3.

Two holiday programs set at Golden West

Two holiday shows will be presented in December at Golden West

College’s Mainstage Theatre, 15744 Goldenwest St., Huntington Beach.

“The Nutcracker” ballet will run for 12 performances from Friday

through Dec. 24. Admission is $12.50 for adults and $10.50 for children

under 12.

Conductor Tom Hernandez and the Golden West College International

Symphonic Band will present the “Many Moods of Christmas” holiday music

program Dec. 7 to 10. Admission is $10.50 for adults and $8.50 for

children under 12.

Workshop set on how to buy or build PCs

Golden West College will present a workshop on buying or building

personal computers from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday at its Community

Center Room 102, 15744 Goldenwest St., Huntington Beach.

The workshop will review motherboard architecture; chip sets and

footprints; how to decode computer ads and interpret specifications; and

how to protect a personal computer from obsolescence.

The program fee is $67, plus a $45 materials fee payable at the

workshop.

Hand reflexology program scheduled

Golden West College will offer a hand reflexology workshop from 6:30

to 9:30 p.m. Wednesday in its Community Center Room 102, 15744 Goldenwest St., Huntington Beach.

meeting.

College exhibits art by 23 faculty members

The works of 23 Golden West College art instructors are on display

through Dec. 15 at the Fine Art Gallery on campus, 15744 Goldenwest St.,

Huntington Beach.

The Golden West College Art Faculty Exhibition is a free annual event

open to the public. Gallery hours are 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through

Friday and 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday.
