Huntington Beach Waves roll along
The South Huntington Beach Waves ran their record to 14-2 last weekend by defeating West Garden Grove No Mercy twice in a doubleheader, 5-4 and
15-2, in girls’ Under-10 Division play.
Knotted at 4 through two innings of play in the first game, Hilary
Pool’s run batted in single in the third inning provided the Waves with
their margin of victory.
There was no close call for the Waves in game No. 2, however, as
Danielle Delany belted a three-run home run in the first inning to
highlight a big offensive display by South Huntington Beach. Delany went
on to add a double, single and an RBI to her totals.
In the two games, the Waves had 24 hits. Sara Taylor had two singles
and three RBIs, Stephanie Mello and Katrice Shaner each had two singles
and three RBIs, Monica Bledsoe doubled and singled with one RBI, Kim
Gonzalez and Lorny Freeland each had three singles and one RBI, and Erica
Svoboda and Ashlee Huston each chipped in a single.
Pool and Freeland also turned in strong pitching performances as the
duo combined for 20 strikeouts.
