Girls cross country: Sea Kings roll past Northwood, 23-35
NEWPORT BEACH - Junior Season Meservey of Corona del Mar High
clocked an 18:20 to outdistance the field as the host Sea Kings knocked
off Northwood, 23-35, in a Pacific Coast League girls cross country dual
meet at Bonita Creek Park.
Meservey crossed ahead of Northwood’s Jordan Bechtold and Christi
Farson, then Corona del Mar poured it on with consecutive finishes from
Elisha Morgan (19:05), Diana Hossfeld (19:21), Jenny Cummins (19:21),
Lindsey Yourman (19:41) and Jennifer Long (20:09).
The Sea Kings (2-0), who will compete in the prestigious Stanford
Invitational Saturday in Division I circles, are ranked No. 1 in Orange
County and No. 8 in the nation, according to Harrier magazine, which
covers high school cross country.
