Michael Jason Hubert of Costa Mesa recently earned the ranking of

Eagle Scout. He was recognized at ceremonies at the Oak Canyon Nature

Center in Anaheim. He is the son of Tom Dielman and Gretchen Hubert.

Eagle Scout candidates must earn 21 merit badges and successfully

complete a community church- or synagogue-related project. Hubert built

25 birdhouses to support local wildlife. He has served as a troop

historian and patrol leader and also completed his Junior Leader

Training.

Gerald R. Ford, astronaut Neil A. Armstrong and film director Steven

Spielberg. ... Ryan D. Jetton, Timothy W. Birdsong and Elizabeth M.

Jansma, all of Newport Beach, have enrolled in Claremont McKenna

College’s class of 2004. A graduate of Corona del Mar High School, Jetton

is the son of Janice and Norman Jetton. Birdsong is a graduate of Newport

Harbor High School. He is the son of Jacqueline and George Birdsong of

Newport Beach. Bitta, also a graduate of Newport Harbor, is the daughter

of Kimberly and Glen Jansma of Newport Beach. The three students have not

yet decided on majors. ... The Sutton Place Hotel in Newport Beach was

recently awarded the Gold Key Award from Meetings & Conventions Magazine

for the second consecutive year. The hotel was selected for “consistent

excellence in serving the meeting industry.” The Sutton Place Grande

Hotels Group, which owns and manages the hotel, has additional properties

in Chicago, Toronto and Vancouver. ... Lanneau Miller and Dave Koprivetz

recently joined the Newport Beach office of Marsh Risk & Insurance

Services. Miller has more than 30 years of experience in property and

casualty insurance, with national and international clients in industries

including technology and construction. The San Clemente resident is a

member of the Orange County chapter of Chartered Property and Casualty

Underwriters and the Society of Certified Insurance Counselors. Koprivetz

has 14 years of experience in the insurance industry. The Yorba Linda

resident has served as human resources director for a division of

Bristol-Myers Squibb.
