Spitfires keep grip on first place
It was a case of East meets West Wednesday as the Small Soldiers of
the Norris East Division attempted to derail the Spitfires, leaders of
the Norris West title chase, in a showdown at Coast 2 Coast Inline Hockey
Center in Huntington Beach.
The Spitfires met their rival’s challenge and emerged with a 5-2
victory to improve their first place standing to 6-1-1.
Sean Easton and Jonathan Floren both scored twice, Daniel Ane added
another goal, and Joshua Mason had an assist to complete the Spitfires’
offensive output.
Goalie David Taylor recorded 15 saves.
Dylan Nelson scored both goals, each coming off an assist from Brandon
Weiss, and goalie Brian Daigneault had a busy day in the net, with 36
saves, to lead the Small Soldiers (2-3-3).
In other games:
Red Devils 5, Blackhawks 4
The Red Devils (4-3-1) stayed atop the Norris East Division standings
as Cole Bonanni scored twice with an assist, Justin Romers scored twice,
Sean Wing scored once, Josh Wright had an assist, and goalie D.J. Mihalik
had 17 saves.
For the Blackhawks (3-5) of the Norris West Division, Kyle Evans
scored twice and added a pair of assists, Reye Brackett scored twice, and
goalie Luke Hamagiwa had 24 saves.
Flyers 4, Roller Rebels 1
Ross Harper scored two goals, Damian Raburn scored once, Reed Thomas
had one assist, and goalie William DeWitt had 26 saves for the Flyers
(3-5) of the Norris East Division.
Matthew Finlayson scored an unassisted goal and goalie Kyle Steinbrick
stopped 33 shot attempts for the Norris West Division Roller Rebels
(4-3-1).
