COSTA MESA:
Placentia Avenue: Unable to scrounge up $12.33, someone stole an
18-pack of 12-ounce cans of Budweiser from a 7-Eleven in the 2100 block
at 12:05 a.m. Aug. 21.
Sunflower Avenue: Someone stole the fog lights of a parked car and
scratched its hood, causing $620 in damages, in the 600 block between 5
and 11 p.m. Aug. 24.
Superior Avenue: A young man attempted to steal a $22 pair of black
sunglasses from Tower Records in the 1700 block Aug. 19 at 12:30 p.m. but
found himself fleeing from a security guard instead. The suspect ran
right out of his black sandals and now police are using DNA testing to
find the guilty party.
NEWPORT BEACH
Newport Center Drive: Someone smashed into a parked car parked and
made off with $2,085 worth of golf clubs in the 600 block between 5:15
and 6:10 a.m. Tuesday. Trunks, people, trunks.
Riverside Avenue: A woman who had to “just run right in” to the U.S.
Post Office in the 100 block between 2:40 and 2:45 p.m. Monday came back
to her car to find someone had “just broken right in” and stole her
checkbook.
Seashore Drive: Someone entered an unlocked home and helped themselves
to $2,705 worth of items, including a camcorder, watch, cash box, silver
coins and a passport booklet in the 4700 block between 10:15 a.m. and
5:05 p.m. Wednesday.
