We asked people at a Costa Mesa shopping center: What are you doing to

conserve energy during the hot summer months?

I’m staying inside. We leave our air conditioner off and just run our

fan once in awhile.

Opening windows and using ceiling fans. I’m big on conserving energy.

My wife will get mad at me if I don’t. We conserve and recycle all year

long.

I do my laundry at night. And I go grocery shopping at night when

there’s less traffic. I use less gas that way. I also keep my windows

open at night.

We run our fans. But if I turn them off, my wife gets mad. The heat

doesn’t bother me. We have the grandchildren with us now, and sometimes

they leave lights on. So I’ll run and turn them off.

Sleeping later. Then there’s less hours in the day to be running

anything. Like in foreign countries. Rest more, use less--that’s my

philosophy.
