Racing: Millen wins his first CORR Series event
CRANDON, Wis. - Newport Beach’s Rod Millen, winner of the Pikes
Peak International Hill Climb five times in the past six years, led from
start to finish to win the third race of the Championship Off-Road Racing
Pro-4 Brush Run Series Sunday.
In the opening lap, Millen, driving a Toyota Tundra, went fender to
fender with Pro-4 Series leader Rob MacCachren after the first turn.
By the fifth turn, the New Zealand native took control of the race and
finished with a 17-second victory, his first in the CORR Pro-4 series.
Millen’s win came one day after nearly winning the second race of the
series. He led for the first three laps, but had mechanical problems and
did not finish.
Millen’s win will be televised on ESPN2 July 8.
The fourth round of the Brush Run is scheduled for Sunday at the same
site.
Millen will be defending his Pikes Peak title Tuesday in the races’ 77th
running.
