A 12-year-old Huntington Beach boy has been in critical condition at a

local hospital since being hit by a car filled with teenagers last week.

Trevor Schulte was riding his bike on the northbound lane of Seapoint

Drive near Doral Drive when he was struck by three Westminster teenagers

traveling in a Volvo sedan Thursday, police said. Police are not

releasing the names of the teenagers.

Schulte is suffering from head injuries along with a broken arm and leg.

Three Huntington Beach police officers were in the vicinity on other

business when the accident occurred, said Lt. Luis Ochoa.

Two of the officers attended to Schulte’s injuries, while the third

pursued the teenagers.

After the vehicle was stopped, two individuals were arrested while one

tried to escape on foot. He was subsequently arrested, Ochoa said.

The teenagers were released to their parents. The case is currently under

investigation, and police may pursue felony hit and run charges against

the driver, Ochoa said.

Police still looking for church vandal

The Church of Christ on Huntington Street suffered several thousand

dollars worth of water damage last week when vandals inserted a hose

through a window, soaking the sanctuary and damaging pews, police said.

The church was closed this week as a result of the vandalism, church

officials said.

The damage was discovered Sunday when a Bible study teacher found the

sanctuary flooded with an inch of water, police said. No arrests have

been made, but police said they are continuing their investigation.
