Tennis: Davis, Hansen-Dent in Adoption Guild men’s open singles

NEWPORT BEACH - Scott Davis of Corona del Mar, formerly ranked No.
2 in the world in men’s doubles, reached the semifinals in two of the
most popular divisions at the 39th Roy Emerson Adoption Guild Tennis
Classic, hosted by Newport Beach Tennis Club.
Davis, the head professional at NBTC, will play in the open singles and
doubles semifinals Saturday.
Davis will face Michael Jessup in the singles semifinals, while former
Newport Harbor High standout Brett Hansen-Dent, now a teaching pro in La
Jolla, will face USC’s Marcin Rozpedski in the other semifinal. Both
matches are 11 a.m.
Both men’s open doubles semifinal matches Saturday are scheduled for 2:30
p.m., while the men’s senior (35 and over) doubles semifinals are 1 p.m.
Sunday’s finals will start at 11 a.m. with men’s open singles; 12:30 p.m.
for men’s open doubles; 2 p.m. for men’s seniors; and 3:30 p.m. for mixed
open doubles. There is no women’s open division.
