Baseball: Reuss heading to UNLV
COSTA MESA - Orange Coast College right fielder Jason Reuss will be
continuing his collegiate career at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas.
Reuss hit .303 with a team-leading 12 home runs and 45 RBIs for the
Pirates this season.
Reuss’ 27 career home runs is the second highest two-year total in school
history, behind Joey James’ 35 dingers. He is also fourth behind James,
Dave Staton and Kevin Reimer with 93 career RBIs.
His most memorable moment at Orange Coast came on April 10, 1999 against Cypress when Reuss clubbed two grand slams in one game, becoming the
first Pirate to ever accomplish such a feat.
“It’s really a hitters park,” Reuss said of his new UNLV field. “I wanted
to play out of state, but yet it’s still close to home, which is nice.
During night games in right field, I’ll be able to look out and see the
entire Las Vegas Strip, which will be really cool.”
