NBLL AA: Mariners rally to edge Mets

NEWPORT BEACH - Trailing, 13-5, after four innings, the Mariners

scored four runs in the fifth and five in the sixth to defeat the Mets,

14-13, in Newport Beach Little League AA Division action last weekend.

Eric Chebil scored the game-winning run in the last inning on a

bases-loaded walk by Peter Weidner.

Jeff Jones pitched a scoreless fifth inning for the Mariners, keeping the

game close. He struck out four in three innings of work.

Mariners’ teammate Bradley Hess also pitched three strong innings,

striking out two.

For the Mets, Jake Killian and Andrew Fulcher each had two hits.

In other AA action:

Angels 6, Braves 5 - Solid pitching by the Angels’ James Cunningham and

Cory Vitalo and the Braves’ Max Frisbie and Mason Sayer kept the game

close for both teams.

Solid defense for the Angels was truned in by John Lockhart and Nick

Klein, while the Braves’ gloves were led by Brian Hurst.

Cardinals 11, Mariners 4 - Key hits by Michael Bloom, Garrett Mean, Scott

Frazier and Tommy Colton gave the Cardinals the win over the Mariners.

Chase Stark Ryan Akiba, Chriso Elliott and Otis Mitchell III each scored

runs for the Cardinals.

For the Mariners, key hits were by Bradley Hess, Danny Baker and Jeffrey

Jones. Baker, Hess, Guy Sutherland and Daniel DiChi each scored runs,

while the defense was led by Peter Widener and Sam French.

Mets 9, Red Sox 8 - Beau Ahgyh had three hits, two runs scored and two

RBIs to lead the Mets over the Red Sox.

Jake Killian and Andrew Fulcher each ad two hits, while Zak

Maurer-Erickson and Nick Brewer each had two RBIs.

Michael Katz scored three runs to add to the Mets’ success.

For the Red Sox, Danny DeWees scored three runs, while Kyle Warsaw had a

hit and two runs scored.
