Newport Beach firm wins award for TV ads

Newport Beach advertising agency Lawrence, Mayo & Ponder was honored at

the fifth annual Communicator Awards 2000, a national contest sponsored

by a Texas-based organization that recognizes outstanding work in the

communications field.

Lawrence, Mayo & Ponder beat out more than 2,500 entries from advertising

and public relations firms, broadcast and cable operations, educational

institutions and government agencies.

It was recognized in the television campaign categories for two spots --

“Couch” and “Headphones,” which were created for the California

Governor’s Office of the Secretary for Education. The creative team

included Lynda Lawrence and Bruce Mayo, co-creative directors; Claudia

Ponder, producer; Bob Marden, broadcast director; Simone Beaudoin, art

director; Rick Underwood and Laurie Campbell, copywriters.

Lawrence, Mayo & Ponder was founded in 1991. The agency provides

advertising, public relations and marketing services throughout the U.S.
