NBLL AAA: Yankees edge Cardinals

NEWPORT BEACH - The Yankees used some late-inning magic to defeat

the Cardinals, 12-11, last weekend in Newport Beach Little League AAA

Division action.

With two outs and the score tied in the last inning, Kevin Kottke lined a

single to left field, bringing in Reed Zachman with the winning run for

the Yanks.

Cory MacDonald had three hits and three RBIs, while Zachman and Mitchell

Williams each contributed with singles for the Yankees.

On the mound, the Yanks’ Brian Nichols and Taylor Stone each pitched

effectively, while Zachman was solid on defense.

In other AAA action:

Mariners 9, Orioles 4 - Pitcher Andrew Drews allowed only one run and

struck out six over three innings of work to lead the Mariners over the

Orioles.

Offensively for the Mariners, Michael Page had three hits and scored

three runs, Andrew Silva had three hits and two runs scored, Drews had

two hits and two runs scored, and Jack Lansford came through with two

hits and two RBIs.

For the Orioles, Scott Lineback hit a solo home run and Connor Whalen

pitched three shutout innings.

Mariners 15, Tigers 11 - Andrew Drews had a grand slam to lead the

Mariners over the Tigers.

Jack Lansford scored three times, while Alex Vollaire, Robbie Ogerek,

Jeremy Hyter, Noah Molnar and Andrew Silva each had clutch hits for the

Mariners.

On the mound for the M’s, Merrett Scott pitched three effective innings.

For the Tigers, Gregory Stone scored three runs, while Scott Ely and

James Petrilli each scored twice.

Mariners 2, Mets 1 - Andrew Silva struck out seven over three innings of

work to lead the Mariners over the Mets.

Catcher Michael Page scored both runs for the Mariners, including the

game-winner in the bottom of the sixth inning, while pitcher Merrett

Scott allowed only two hits over three innings with four strikeouts.

For the Mets, Bryce Donovan and Micheal Bear each pitched very well.

Dodgers 13, Red Sox 9 - The Dodgers held off a late Red Sox rally for the

victory.

Kevin Hollard and Joseph Rose and Carlo Valdes each had two hits and two

runs scored for the Dodgers, while Danny Muskovits had two hits and one

run scored.

Muskovits also pitched three strong innings, striking out eight.

For the Red Sox, Camden Nicholson had three hits, while Morgan Bowman

scored three times.

Tigers 9, Dodgers 6 - J.A. Gormly and Ricky Townsend each had two hits

and a run scored to lead the Tigers over the Dodgers.

Andy Rovzar had a single, double an RBI and two runs scored for the

Tigers.

For the Dodgers, Kevin Holland had two hits, two runs scored and two

RBIs.

Dodgers 13, Braves 4 - Kevin Holland and Carlo Valdes each had three hits

and two runs scored to lead the Dodgers’ attack.

Michael Tanzer, Charles Vickery and Charlie McAuliffe had two hits and

two runs scored, while Nicolas Russo-Larsson had two hits and a run

scored.

Robbie Bayer had three hits, while John Leonard had a double and two runs

scored for the Braves.

Red Sox 15, Diamondbacks 4 - The Red Sox pounded out 15 hits in their win

over the D-Backs.

Drew Blake had a triple, single, two runs scored and two RBIs to lead the

Red Sox attack.

Pitcher Camden Nicholson pitched three strong innings for the Red Sox,

striking out five.

Angels 3, Mariners 2 - Christina Mainero drove in Timmy Leber with the

winning run in the final inning for the Angels.

Strong Angels’ pitching by Shane Boras, Eric Rask and Fletcher Della

Grotta allowed Mainero’s big hit to be possible.

The Angels’ defense was led by Reagan Riley, Marc Roudanez and Kevin

Rask.

Red Sox 8, Orioles 7 - The Res Sox overcame a six-run deficit for the

comeback win.

Key triples were produced by Camden Nicholson, Brett Bartlett and Patrick

Brennan for the Red Sox, as they scored six runs in the fourth inning and

two in the sixth for the win.
