Youth soccer: Rea Elementary to host soccer tourney
COSTA MESA - Rea Elementary has kicked off a spring after-school
intramural soccer tournament.
Sixteen soccer teams have been organized by the students for this
tournament, which began April 26 and will end on June 7.
Even though Rea School only had grades 4-6, teams may have students from
any grade level, but must contain both boy and girl members.
All teams are assured to playing at least three games in the round-robin
tournament. The top-eight teams will then participate in a
single-elimination tournament. The winner will get to play a faculty
soccer team on June 7.
Students have recruited staff members, older siblings and parents to help
coach the teams. An after-school program, Project Success, has helped
sponsor the tournament by selling refreshments during the games.
