The ocean will turn red again today as officials from the city of

Huntington Beach, the Orange County Sanitation District and the county of

Orange conduct the second in a series of dye tests to study water

currents.

The group will introduce vivid florescent dye to waters at the mouth of

the Santa Ana River and at locations in Huntington Beach.

The test, along with a similar one conducted May 1, is intended to help

researchers learn about the way water currents in the area may transmit

pollution to beaches, said Richard Barnard, director of communications

for Huntington Beach.
