College swimming: Ferreira wins the men’s 50 free

MISSION VIEJO - On the first day of the Orange Empire Conference

swim championships at Saddleback College, Orange Coast College’s Geraldo

Ferreira won the men’s 50-yard freestyle event.

After turning in the second-fastest prelims time, Ferreira’s mark of

21.27 was .06 better than top qualifier Ashlin Wilbun of Grossmont.

For OCC’s women’s team, Kristen Day was third in the 50 free with a

25.61. The OEC championship continue today and Saturday.
