Women’s water polo: Grogan leads UMass into conference tournament
AMHURST, Mass. - Former Costa Mesa High standout Katie Grogan will
try to help the University of Massachusetts women’s water polo team
repeat in the CWPA Eastern Championship Tournament this weekend.
Grogan, an All-American selection, leads the Minutewomen in scoring with
57 goals and 26 assists for 83 points in 102 quarters.
The senior co-captain also leads the team with 50 steals, 28 ejections
drawn and seven penalty shots drawn.
In last year’s tournament, Grogan scored 11 goals in the five games
played to earn MVP honors.
The Minutewomen are currently ranked No. 13 in the country by the NCAA
Division I with a 25-6 record.
