Lancers sweep Lions
COSTA MESA - The long season for the Vanguard University baseball
team continued Saturday, as Golden State Athletic Conference visitor Cal
Baptist pounded its way to a doubleheader sweep.
Cal Baptist won the first game, 19-11, then took the second, 12-4,
dropping the Lions’ record to 4-28, 2-18 in conference.
Vanguard senior Kevin Candela ria went 3 for 3 with a home run in the
first game and finished 4 for 6 in the twin bill.
Vanguard freshman Timothy Jara had three hits in the first game and
sophomore teammate Samuel Baeder doubled in each game and finished 3 for
8 on the day.
Cal Baptist pounded out 36 hits, 13 for extra bases, in the two games and
Lancer pitchers combined for 13 strikeouts.
