AYSO Region 97: Newport Gold blanks North Irvine

NEWPORT BEACH - Katie Kay, Megan Munce and Alex Barton each scored

for the Newport Gold in Sunday’s 3-0 win over North Irvine in AYSO Region

97 Division 5 action.

Aiding the offense was the strong play of Leslie Boler, Rachel Baugh,

Alesha Young, Alice Cope, Lily Dierkes and Cassidy Gaynor.

Goalkeeper duties were shared by Gina Krotee and Tia Schefflette, while

Megan Toman, Courtney Taylor, Ally Schatzlein and Carley Ruiz anchored

the defense.

The Newport Gold’s win over North Irvine capped off a solid weekend of

play. They had knocked off Mission Viejo, 4-1, on Saturday with two goals

scored by Boler and solo tallies by Kay and Barton.
