Red Storm takes Division 2 title
The Fountain Valley Red Storm proved that 13 can be a lucky number
Sunday as they captured the 2000 National Junior Basketball Division 2
Championship Series title by defeating Riverside, 61-55, in the
postseason final at Chaffey College.
The victory was the 13th of the season without a loss for the Red Storm,
who were led by Samer Haddad’s 24 points.
Dustin Aoyagi also scored in double figures with 15 points, and Eric
Ferraro and Shane Webber scored seven and six points, respectively.
Other members of the Red Storm contributing the championship season were
Corey Ferraro, Andrew Schneider, Hemal Patel, Andrew Olmsted, Matt
Randol, and Stuart Schultz.

FV Magic 46, Chino Valley 38
Ricky Hagen scored 15 points -- including two key three-point baskets,
Nguyen Dau scored 16 points, and Nate Haglund pulled down 16 rebounds
with eight points as the Magic (13-0) capped an unbeaten season by
winning the postseason title.
FV Heat 52, FV Hornets 38
In a battle between two Fountain Valley rivals, the Heat won and captured
third place in the division’s postseason tournament. The Heat, who
trailed through three quarters of play, were led in scoring by the trio
of Paul Youssef (17 points), Viet Nguyen (15 points), and Matthew
Derocili (13 points). Derocili also pulled down 10 rebounds and Robert
Macksoud, who led the way on defense, also collected 10 rebounds.
