Women’s tennis: Pirates fall to Santa Ana

COSTA MESA - The Orange Coast College women’s tennis team was edged

by Santa Ana College, 5-4, in Orange Empire Conference action Monday.

The Dons won all three tiebreaking sets played to pull out the win.

Sondra McNamara, Merin Yoshida and Jessica Andrus each swept in singles,

while the team of Lot Keijzer and Erica Goode swept in doubles for the

Pirates (2-3, 4-4 in conference).

Monday’s contest was a completion of a March 7 matchup with the Dons,

which was suspended due to darkness.

OCC will host Fullerton today at 2 p.m. before taking on El Camino on the

road on Wednesday, also at 2 p.m.

Singles - Keijzer (OCC) lost to Ramos, 1-6, 3-6; Goode (OCC) lost to

def. Watanabe, 6-3, 6-2; Andrus (OCC) def. Stoltz, 6-2, 7-6; Nagashima

(OCC) lost to Mendee, 2-6, 6-4, 1-6.

Doubles - Keijzer-Goode (OCC) def. Jacaban-Yuliana, 6-1, 6-2;

McNamara-Yoshida (OCC) lost to Stoltz-Ramos, 4-6, 6-4, 3-6;

Andrus-Nagashima (OCC), lost to Watanabe-Bravo, 6-1, 5-7, 5-7.
