Baseball: Lions blank Northwest Nazarene
COSTA MESA - Vanguard University’s baseball team exploded for its
biggest offensive production of the year en route to a 9-0 nonconference
win over Northwest Nazarene of Idaho Thursday afternoon.
Adam Steckler went 2 for 3 with a home run, two runs scored and three
RBIs while Kevin Candelaria and Kurtis Broderson each added two RBIs
apiece for the Lions (2-8).
Joshua Steele (Orange Coast College) pitched seven scoreless innings,
allowing only five hits while striking out six.
The Lions blew the game open with a five-run seventh inning, capped off
with a three-run home run by Steckler.
Vanguard resumes Golden State Athletic Conference play Saturday at 11
a.m. with a doubleheader at Point Loma Nazarene.
