Surf City Blues rally to topple Tustin
The West Huntington Beach girls 6th-grade All-Net basketball team
ended Sunday’s game against Tustin with an 11-0 surge to pull out a 24-14
victory in National Junior Basketball action.
After Tustin went ahead early in the fourth period, Rachael Maulit scored
four points to give the Surf City Blues the lead for good, sending them
on the start of their 11-0 run to finish the game.
Maulit and Susie Bartolme each scored eight points, and both starred
defensively as Maulit had 13 steals and Bartolme dominated the boards
with 16 rebounds and.
Audra Tamulaitis and Laura Boggeln combined for an additional 17 rebounds
as West Huntington Beach ran its record 8-1.

Shaqettes 19, TLA 16
Leanne Voss and Lauren Kaprielian each scored six points and Erica
Fruhwirth hit a three-point basket to finish with five points in leading
the Shaqettes to victory; the Talkative Little Angels’ Stephanie King led
all scorers with 10 points.
FOUNTAIN VALLEY NJB
DIVISION 1
Martians 53, Newport Mesa 29
Guards Ashley Courtney and Crystal Perez scored 15 and 10 points,
respectively, and nine of 10 players scored for the Martians, who used a
stifling defense in the fourth quarter and wnet on to outscore Newport
Mesa, 16-2.
