Men’s basketball: Lions fall to Azusa Pacific
COSTA MESA - Dennis Keane scored 21 points for Vanguard University
in Tuesday night’s 87-78 men’s basketball loss to Azusa Pacific in Golden
State Athletic Conference action.
John Kohlhaas chipped in with 17 points and seven rebounds, while Brandon
Cablay added 15 points for the Lions (11-11, 3-7 in conference).
Jerome Joseph led the Cougars (19-3, 9-1), ranked No. 5 by the NAIA, with
38 points, while Kevin Daley added 22.
The Cougars led by 10 at the half by shooting 51% from the field and led
by as many as 19.
Vanguard trimmed the lead down to seven late in the game, but could not
get any closer.
The Cougars dominated at the free-throw line, outscoring the Lions, 27-9,
from the charity stripe.
