NMJAAF: Midget Seahawks stay alive with playoff win
NEWPORT BEACH - The Newport-Mesa Junior All-American Football
Midget Seahawks advanced to the second round of the playoffs, following
their 18-6 win over the Fountain Valley Jaguars.
Travis Winrow scored on a fumble recovery in the end zone, while Jun
Azurin scored two rushing touchdowns for the Seahawks.
Key tackles on defense were turned in by Bo Burgess, Chris Channing, Eric
Curtis, Sylvester Langrine, Omar Ruiz, Luis Gudino, Joevanny Cueva, Sam
Matlin, Brian Campos, Alan Pineda, Luis Gonzalez, R.J. Martin, Jon
McClain, Tim McCullough, Michael Puentes, Chris Wade, Brian Wase and Zach
Wishengrad.
On offense, Matt Encinias had two long runs of 45 and 40 yards for the
Seahawks.
The Seahawks will next take on the Garden Grove Panthers Saturday at 5
p.m. at Rowland High.
