Small plane skids into sign at airport
-- Susan McCormack
A Cessna 310’s right main gear collapsed as it landed at John Wayne
Airport on Tuesday evening, causing a five-minute runway closure but no
injuries to the plane’s two passengers, an airport spokeswoman said.
Spokeswoman Nghia Nguyen said the plane attempted to land at about 5:25
p.m. but skidded on the runway and ran into a direction sign. The two men
aboard, whose names were not released, walked away from the scene unhurt.
The runway was closed “for cautionary reasons,” said Nguyen, who added
that the six-seat aircraft was based out of John Wayne.
