Jones signs with UCLA

NEWPORT BEACH - Newport Harbor High senior Trevor Jones, the

reigning Sea View League champion in the 110-meter high hurdles and the

300 intermediate hurdles, has signed a letter of intent to continue his

track and field and academic career at UCLA, Sailors’ Coach Bim Barry

said Tuesday.

Jones, competing in the 400 hurdles, finished 12th at both the National

Scholastic Outdoor Championships and the Junior Nationals after finishing

third in the 300 hurdles at the CIF Southern Section Masters Meet last

spring.

Jones was also third at the section Division III finals in the 300

hurdles.

In addition to his hurdling expertise, he was third at Sea View League

Finals in the 200 meters.

Jones, 17, is a reserve receiver on the Sailors’ football team, which

hosts Villa Park Friday in the CIF Division VI quarterfinals.
