NHB clinches championship
NHB Black boys Under-10 soccer team clinched the Coast Soccer
League’s Silver Division championship Saturday with a 5-1 victory over
the Galaxy Alliance of Torrance.
After spotting Galaxy a 1-0 lead in the match’s first three minutes, NHB
finally crashed the scoreboard when Jhovany Hernandez scored off a corner
kick by Esteban Orejel.
Orejel later followed up with an unassisted goal two minutes later to
give NHB a 2-1 halftime lead.
The second half was all NHB as the Black’s defense, led by sweepers
Favian Robiatti and Ryan Lehane, prevented the Galaxy from penetrating
NHB territory.
Hernandez, Matt Wood, and Patrick Sheffield helped limit the Galaxy to
just two shots the entire match.
NHB’s offense was in high gear in the final half as it attempted 18
shots. Orejel added his second goal of the game with a solo score at the
15:30 mark, and Christian Ramirez followed with a goal off an Abraham
Villon feed, and Bobby Tornel scored off Villon’s second assist of the
game.
NHB Black returns to action Saturday to battle second-place So Cal
United. On Thanksgiving Weekend, NHB will participate at the Nike Harvest
Cup Tournament in Irvine.
