Orange County needs El Toro airport

Orange County must have a larger airport to meet our travel and air

freight needs soon. It might as well be El Toro because much of the

infrastructure is already there. We cannot put our heads in the sand and

ignore these pressing needs. Then, too, think of all of the new jobs and

businesses that a new international airport will generate. It might as

well be here rather than in Los Angeles.

Store owner should be ashamed

Regarding Kenneth Reynolds filing his complaint against the city (“Mall

owner wants city to pay for damage in shootout,” Oct. 21), all I can say

is, you ought to be ashamed yourself.

I’m absolutely appalled at the greediness the owner is exhibiting,

wanting to be reimbursed for damages after the shooting. Evidently it’s

legal, and I guess it will be paid. But just because something is legally

right doesn’t make it morally right, and I’m outraged. I can’t believe

how people can live with themselves.

Parking lot on the beach not a good idea

The Huntington Beach City Council’s proposal for a parking lot on the

beach is far from unanimous. People, from everywhere, who enjoy the peace

and serenity of an ocean beach walk are losing a great asset. Other uses

such as a boardwalk for people would be superior to a parking lot.

Beach Boulevard needs a theme

My thoughts on revamping Beach Boulevard (“Seeking a street revamp,” Oct.

21)? The city should pass an ordinance in which if there were to be any

new buildings, painting or stucco, the builders would have a theme of

maybe four colors to choose from, or even a surf related theme instead of

having every building up and down the street a different theme, style or

color. If anyone were to repaint a building, they could do it in blue,

green or white, it would be a cost-efficient way to have our own Irvine

Boulevard.

Street revamp money better spent elsewhereI disapprove of the Beach

median repairs or reconstruction. I think there are a lot of other things

that could be done with the money, especially Shorewood and Mediterranean

drives, where sidewalks and sewers are getting clogged.
