OCC wins first game

RANCHO CUCAMONGA - Orange Coast College’s women’s basketball team

started off on the right foot with an 84-48 win over Hancock in the first

round of the Chaffey Tournament Friday.

Kristen Urban, a product of Newport Harbor High, led the Pirates with 15

points. In all there were 10 Pirates in the scoring column. Karyn Fierst

contributed 14 points and Sarah Middlebrook 10. Melissa Lewis grabbed 11

rebounds and scored nine points.

OCC’s opponent in today’s semifinals is Mt. San Antonio, with tipoff at 5

p.m.

The season-opening tournament concludes on Sunday.
