MILLENNIUM MOMENT
Newport Beach activist Gwenda Watson’s name is associated in the mind of
most Newport-Mesa residents with that of her husband, Norman Watson,
former head of OCC.
But Gwenda Watson’s energetic efforts on behalf of mentally and
physically disabled children deserve notice in their own right.
Watson served as California chairman of the Council of Volunteer Advisors
for the National Foundation of the March of Dimes. She also helped to
establish the South Coast Child Guidance Clinic, a low-fee treatment
center for emotionally disturbed children.
* MILLENNIUM MOMENT celebrates the people who have made a major
contribution to the Newport-Mesa community during this century.
