The Squirt Division Mission OC Blades, defeated five opponents last

weekend to win the division’s youth roller hockey tournament at the

Corona Inline Sports Center.

The 12-and-under squad began the three-day tournament with three

impressive victories. They opened with a 5-0 shutout over the Kryptonics

Comets, then mercied both the Dynamo and Oilers by identical 8-0 scores.

In championship semifinal round play, the Blades found themselves in a

3-0 third period hole against the Kryptonics Rinkside Rats, but scored

four goals in a six-minute stretch in the fourth quarter to pull out a

4-3 victory.

That win set up a match with Team Dangerous of La Verne in the

championship final, where the Blades jumped out to a 2-0 lead and never

looked back in a 4-2 victory.

The tournament triumph earned the Blades a spot in next summer’s national

tournament in Las Vegas.

The Mission OC Blades Squirt Division team is comprised of Adam Sheldon,

who was named Most Valuable Goalie, MVP Offense winner Tim Kraus, fellow

offensive players Derrick Burnett, Jason Krispal, and Josh Laricchia,

defenders Kelly Shiraki, Brian Saguchi, Brett Yamoaka, Tommy Fair, and

P.J. Kavaya, and coaches Ken Gibo, Clay Burnett, and Ray Krispal.
