The Huntington Beach Green Chargers paired a dominant defensive
performance with an offense that scored at will to post a 34-0 victory
over the Blue Seahawks in a Pop Warner Jr. Pee Wee Division game at
Edison High.
Eugene Starikov rushed for two touchdowns and Les Obie, Josh Herrera, and
Nick Josenhans all scored once as the Green Chargers finished the regular
season in second place.
Huntington Beach recorded the shutout win behind the play of Sean
Corcoran, Christopher Maki, Robert McCarty, Tim Doupe, Jay Petros, Drake
Peach, Marcus Breit, and Tim Lowe.
The Green Chargers will take on the revenge-minded Lakewood Lancers
Saturday (3 p.m.) in a first-round playoff game in Lakewood.
Back on Oct. 30, Huntington Beach upset the host Lancers, 19-12.

MIGHTY MITE DIVISION
Gold Chargers 18, Fullerton 0
Jack Garrabrandt rushed for a pair of scores and backfield mate Tommy
Barbish ran for another touchdown as the Huntington Beach Mighty Mite
Gold Chargers blanked host Fullerton at Hillcrest Park.
The play of Drake Dominguez, Sean Simpson, Chandler Apodaca, and Matt
Larsen contributed to the defensive shutout.
Green Chargers 25, Santa Margarita 7
Bryan Kobylka scored a pair of touchdowns and the Huntington Beach Mighty
Mite Green Chargers used a complete team effort to rout the White Eagles
at Edison High.
Jullien Herrera also set up two other touchdowns, short runs by Jake
Machado and Brandon Weiss, with 85 yards in rushing.
Joe Green had a quarterback sack and David Pena made several tackles in
the White Eagle backfield to lead the Huntington Beach defense.
In cheerleading competition:
The Huntington Beach Pop Warner Jr. Midget Division cheerleading squad
finished in first place at a recent cheer competition and earned the
right to compete in an upcoming regional competition to be held at The
Forum in Inglewood. The Jr. Pee Wee Division cheer squad, comprised of
Harmony Cartier, Alexandra Downey, Tempestt Halstead, Dori Kartchner,
Lenzie Lawson, Pilar Llamas, Katie Munson, and Amber Mitchell, finished
second in its division and also secured a spot in the upcoming regional
competition.
