The Hornets, a boys Under-10 AYSO Region 56 soccer team, collected
three recent shutout victories, two of which came by shutout.
Riley Hansler opened the scoring in a 2-0 win over Tsunami by sending a
penalty kick into the corner of the net, and Nick Stephens secured the
win with a shot off a well-placed corner kick by Hansler.
The Hornets’ defensive line of Aashik Chela, Matt Abad-Santos, and Tanner
Stansbury held off a strong Tsunami offensive attack to preserve the win.
On Saturday, Bradley Hansen, assisted by Jordan Luevano, scored off
another precise corner kick by Hansler to lift the Hornets past the Big
Blue Wrecking Crew, 1-0. Big Blue goalie Chris Voss actually made a nice
stop on the ball, but it rolled into the corner of the net.
It was the first goal of the season for Hansen.
The Hornets’ win streak continued with a 3-1 decision over the Silver
Bullets. In that victory, Keaton Celinder scored the go-ahead goal off a
Jarron Ertz feed, and Stephens gave the Hornets a 3-1 edge when he took a
ricochet off Hansler’s kick off the Silver Bullet crossbar and put it
into the goal.
Hansler opened the scoring with a blistering shot into the back of the
net.
