Club soccer: OCU Rush retain first with weekend wins.
COSTA MESA - The Orange Coast United Girls Under 15 club soccer
team retained first place after winning two games last weekend.
The Rush knocked off the South Coast Breakers, 4-3, Saturday, before
defeating the South County Storm, 2-1 on Sunday.
In the win over the Breakers, Sabrina Couch, Kate Younglove and
Nichelle McRorie were the difference for the Rush’s offense, while goalie
Sarah Tawalbeh was strong in net.
In Sunday’s win, Allison Apodaca scored the game’s first goal off an
assist by McRorie.
McRorie then set up the game-winning goal by Adele Koetting with
strong defensive play coming from Jessica Orozco, Kirsten Chamberlain and
Chloe Cox.
In other soccer action:
Wolfpack 5, South Bay Force 1 - The Wolfpack, a girls-under-10 team
were led offensively by Justine Freud and Crystal Mena, who each had two
goals, while Claire Josephson added another goal.
The goals were assisted by Alesha Young and Alex McIntosh.
Wolfpack 1, Mission Viejo 0 - Justine Freud scored the game’s only
goal, while goalie Kristina Dague preserved the shutout.
