MILLENNIUM MOMENT
De Murl Tosh moved from Kansas to Costa Mesa in 1953 and opened a flower
shop on Newport Boulevard. Throughout the decades, she was an important
force in helping local culture to blossom.
Tosh was a patron of the Costa Mesa Civic Playhouse, a director of the
Friends of the Library and a member of the Costa Mesa Historical Society.
She also created the first scholarship for the Girls’ Club of the Harbor
Area and was a charter member of the Costa Mesa Art League. The Costa
Mesa Chamber of Commerce named her Woman of the Year in 1976.
