MISSION VIEJO - Orange Coast College’s men’s and women’s water polo
teams shelled the opposition in the semifinals of the Orange Empire
Conference Water Polo Championships Friday at Saddleback College, the men
belting Cypress, 10-4, and the women handing Cypress the same sort of
treatment, 10-2.
Coast’s men (22-6-2) will duel Riverside (20-10), an 11-7 winner over Saddleback, for thew title today at 1:30.
The Pirates’ women’s team (21-5) has a similar arrangement, meeting
Riverside (27-4-1) at 2:45 for the title after the latter nicked
Saddleback, 3-1.

COSTA MESA - Orange Coast College’s soccer teams closed out their 1999
campaigns Friday, the men giving Golden West a challenge before Cooper
Briscoe netted a goal in the 65th minute to provide the Rustlers with a
1-0 verdict in Orange Empire Conference play, and the women falling in
convincing fashion, 7-0, on the OCC campus.
Golden West goalkeeper Jose Medina recorded six saves, including two
key saves in the final minutes. Carlos Loza of Orange Coast had 10 saves
for the men’s team, which closes out with a 3-14-4 record overall, 2-7-3
in the OEC. Golden West is 6-11-2, 5-6.
The women’s team bowed out with a 7-11-4 overall record, 5-5-2 in the
OEC.
