Newport Dunes and the British American Business Council are holding an

event to celebrate Guy Fawkes Day. Fawkes attempted to blow up the

British Parliament in 1605. The event, which starts at 6 p.m. tonight,

features a buffet dinner, music, a bonfire, and more. Tickets are $25 to

2. TAMING THE YOUNG RUFFIANS

The Four Seasons Hotel will host etiquette expert Theresa Thomas, who

will teach table manners for children in a course that runs from 4:45 to

7:30 p.m. Saturday. The $105 tutorial and dinner covers such dining

niceties as napkin and utensil placement, posture, and proper

soup-supping technique. The Four Seasons is at 690 Newport Center Drive,

3. DANCE AGAINST CANCER

Young Professionals Against Cancer will hold “Toast of the Century” at

the Balboa Bay Club from 8 p.m. to midnight Saturday. The evening will

feature a dance, silent auction and casino tables, and will benefit the

Orange County Foundation for Oncology Children and Families. The event is

$50 for YPAC members, $60 for nonmembers and $65 for tickets at the door.
