NMJAAF: Midget Seahawks romp past Orange Chiefs
NEWPORT BEACH - Matt Encinias had four touchdowns to lead the
Newport-Mesa Junior All-American Football Midget Seahawks over the Orange
Chiefs, 42-6, Saturday.
Jun Azurin had two touchdowns and a two-point conversion to add to the
Seahawks’ offense.
Helping the production was the strong play of the offensive line,
including Zach Wishengrad, Chris Wade, Bo Burgess, Eric Curtis, Luis
Gonzalez, Tim McCullough, Michael Puentes and Travis Winrow.
Brian Campos rushed for 78 yards on eight carries, while on defense,
Joevanny Cueva, Sam Matlin, Brian Wise, and Omar Ruiz caused numerous
Chiefs’ turnovers.
In other NMJAAF action:
Junior Midget Seahawks 44, Orange Chiefs 6 - Spencer Link scored three
touchdowns, Tom Welch added two touchdowns and Kevin Welch had one
touchdown for the Seahawks.
Trevor Theriot and Dan Mavin-Finn each scored extra-points, while Armand
Lapuz, Chad Snyder, Mike Angelo, Wes Presson, Avery Fenton, Kevin Joyse,
Kasey Peters and Alex Orth provided solid defense.
Offensive blocking was provided by Cory Azzalino and Chris Taylor.
Orange Chiefs 6, Junior Pee Wee Seahawks 0 - In a defensive struggle, the
Seahawks were led by defenders Matt Hauser, P.J. Banning, John Gothard,
John Angelo, Conner Ferguson, Jack Turner, Noor Naim and David Root.
The offense was led by Ryan Telles, Richie Sorenson, Zack Lavengood,
Bryce Jardine and Brian Lawler on the line, with running backs Matt Loyd,
Mike Orozco and Tony Jones, receiver David Tomkinson and quarterback Jake
Wuebben moving the ball down the field.
